Local knowledge to help make your stay in Robin Hood Country extra special
Trent Bridge Cricket Ground Trent Bridge, in the heart of Nottingham, has not only been the setting for numerous memorable Test Matches, including the turning point in winning the ashes this year, but also the club of many legendary players including the likes of Sobers, Handlee, Randall and Clive Rice. Clive Rice returning to manage the Nottinghamshire team after a career as one of the greatest international all-rounder. Trent Bridge, Nottingham, was founded in 1838 by William Clarke and is the third oldest major cricket ground, the first is Lord's!! William saw the potential for a ground to stage inter-country matches. Today the grounds have some of the finest facilities in the country including the giant £7.2 million Radcliffe Road stand officially opened by Sir Gary Sobers in 1998. Nothing could be more relaxing than a day spent watching the cricket in this wonderful ground and Trent Bridge is a tremendous tourist attraction as well as a local haunt. But Nottingham and Nottinghamshire is alive with cricket, contested in the local villages, just ask around and I'm sure you will find a game happening nearby at any time of the season.
